About Me

Hi,  I am a poet and writer.  My aim is to entertain, to provoke thought and comment and to encourage other writers to begin writing.  I am the chairman and organiser of The Sheppey and Sittingbourne Writers' Group based in Sheerness, Kent, England.

As well as writing poetry, short stories, narrative poems, and currently working on two novels, I paint pictures.

I have my personal website where I have posted some of my work but I have decided to create this site as an interactive platform for poets and writers.

This area does not yet contain any content.

On being a member of a writer's group

Having graduated from Auckland University and being used to writers in abundance I returned to the UK to find myself out on a limb with no support or no fellow scribes.  I took the plunge when a local group called for new members and since then I have experienced much in the way of writing UK style.  As a result I have discovered the foibles of getting name in print and paid for but as a compensation I have met some people who have become friends as well as fellow writers.  Although it seems that we are merely a social group I have found a way of expressing thoughts both in poetry and in prose.  By using and maintaining a website for our group, writing and editing a newsletter, encouraging young writers and by setting up blogs I have an outlet.

In the meantime there is the day to day running of the group and the many places where it is possible to physically get involved.  We have a spot coming up on local radio, possible live performances of poems and a competition to organise and  run.

Also on a personal note I am continuing to work on a novel and promoting another - see the 'books' section of this site - and I am involved with the Swale Arts Festival.

The most satisfying part of all this is the writing and the new stimulation of being able to publish tasters on the world wide web.
